In-App YouTube Direct Messaging Feature is Rolled Out

YouTube is rolling out its direct message feature in Poland and Ireland for users aged 18 or older. They can share videos in the YouTube mobile app and have a conversation.

What is The YouTube Direct Messaging Feature?

The direct messaging feature will be available in the YouTube app. It was a notable feature requested by many YouTube users. Traditionally, when a user wanted to share a video with someone, they had to click the share button, copy the video link, or use an installed app to message the link. The shared video can be seen in the YouTube app.

Soon, users will be able to have conversations with each other and share videos in the YouTube mobile app itself. People have to invite other channels to share videos. The person receiving the message can accept or decline it. You can share a video and a message only if the invite is accepted. The invite links will be valid for 7days only.

If a channel declines the conversation but later wants to join, they can simply reply to the shared content. While using the feature, users must follow YouTube’s community guidelines. The system will scan content and flag any conversation that could cause harm. Although the messages will be encrypted for security, they will not be used to target ads.

Like other social platforms, it also has an unsend and delete message feature. Additionally, you can block/unblock, report a conversation, and report a channel.
